We spent 6 years living in Minnesota before we moved to North Carolina and warmer climates. I will admit that I never got completely used to the cold winters there, but we did have some great times, especially when the Rowen got old enough to play outside in the snow for a little while.
To create the overlay, I used the Bamboo to trace several snowflake patterns, filled some of the shapes with color, and then used the Magic Wand tool to extract the color and place it on its own layer behind the white overlay. I offset the colored shapes just a bit, to give it a bit of an overprinted feel.
I created this project with an eye toward making a December-long project, with a layout for each day. By keeping the spaces simple, and interjecting my own words throughout the journaling, I can keep up, and still retain that handmade look I love.

Jessica came to scrapbooking like so many others do: She had a baby. She started collecting photos and memorabilia like never before — and wanted to create an album to display them. With her background as a web designer, digital scrapbooking was a natural fit.
Today Jessica enjoys helping others learn how to get comfortable with their computers as a scrapbooking tool. In addition to her instructional videos and teaching at live events throughout the country, Jessica also writes a monthly column for Creating Keepsakes Magazine called “Computer Tricks.” Check out her blog for a free weekly Photoshop tutorial (spraguelab.squarespace.com), along with others tips for mastering the latest tools and technology of digital scrappers.
Jessica rocks, and her layouts are among the very best I’ve ever seen!
Well, now I HAVE to get a Bamboo Fun! Loved that video tut Jessica!
Love the snowflakes and swirls!
