With five children, going back to school each year is a fun time for our household. This year was especially memorable. Our twins started first grade and we went from having two children in school all day to four.

I wanted to capture a moment in time not only with photographs but also with my daughter writing her name. We will create a second layout at the end of the year with updated photos and handwriting. It will be fun to compare how much she has grown – not only through photos but also her handwriting skills. I love using my Bamboo tablet in my creative process – watching my daughter’s creativity bloom as she used it for the first time was icing on the cake!

The mother of five busy children, Kayla’s philosophy with scrapbooking has always been, “Keep it simple.” That’s ultimately why she embraced going digital. Along with chronicling the everyday and extraordinary events of her immediate family, she also enjoys using photos she’s collected of her extended family dating back to the 1800’s.

The yin to her creative yang, Kayla is also passionate about teaching. In addition to her online education site, www.digiscrap101.com, she also recently created a digital scrapbooking curriculum and facilitated a class at Weber State University.
